Set up Sell¶
Sell adds quotes, products, suppliers, and proposal links to the CRM. This page covers turning it on and setting the defaults every new quote inherits.
You need workspace administration permission for the module switch, and the matching sales settings permission for each area below.
Show Sell in the workspace¶
- Open Administration → Sell.
- Turn on Show Yukon Sell in this workspace.
- Save.
Turning it off later hides quotes, products, suppliers, Sell settings, and Orders & billing, while existing commercial data and issued public proposal links keep working.
Set quote and proposal defaults¶
Open Administration → Sell general.
- Quote valid for (days) fills in each new quote's Valid until date. Set
it to
0to leave that date blank and let sellers decide. - Proposal link expires after (days) controls how long a newly issued public proposal link stays open.
Both values are copied when a record is created, so a change applies to new quotes and links rather than reaching back into issued ones. Invoice due dates stay with the connected billing or accounting provider.
Decide when a quote needs a manager¶
Open Administration → Quote approvals and set either threshold:
- Quotes above this total need approval
- Quotes discounted more than this need approval (%)
A threshold of zero switches that rule off — it does not mean everything needs approval. With both at zero, sellers approve their own quotes.
Thresholds are read when a quote is saved, so raising or lowering one does not reopen quotes that have already been submitted. Change a threshold and deal with the quotes already in flight.
Organize the catalog¶
Administration → Product categories manages how products are grouped for filtering and reporting.
- Renaming a category updates every product filed under it.
- Retiring one keeps those products exactly as they are; it only stops the category being chosen again, and it can be restored from the same page using Show retired.
Manage the products themselves from the Product catalog. Where your workspace uses them, Product fulfillment maps catalog items to project actions and Project blueprints hold the reusable tasks, assignments, and notifications created for ordered items.
Define tax treatments¶
Administration → Tax treatments holds the named tax rates your team assigns to clients, products, and quotes.
- Choose New treatment.
- Give it a name a seller will recognize when assigning it —
BC — GST + PST,Tax exempt. - Choose Add rate for each component, and give it a label and percent.
- Save.
A treatment with no rates means tax exempt. That is a deliberate statement: the quote carries no tax rows and drops the estimated tax wording. Retiring a treatment keeps pricing for every client already assigned to it and only stops new clients being assigned.
Warning
Tax treatments decide what a customer is quoted. Have whoever owns tax in your organization confirm the rates before sellers start using them, and retire an outdated treatment instead of editing its percentages under quotes that already went out.
