Contacts and organizations

A Contact is a person. An Organization is a business or other entity. Linking the two gives your team both an individual relationship history and an account-level view.

Find and create records

Open Contacts or Organizations from the Records section. Search and filter on the server, then choose a row to open its workspace. Use the create action when no suitable record exists.

Before creating a record, search by a stable identifier such as email address, phone number, or organization name. This reduces duplicate timelines and reporting.

Understand a record workspace

The tabs available to you depend on the record and your workspace. Common tabs include:

  • Overview for primary details;
  • Activities for open work;
  • History for completed activity and the wider relationship timeline;
  • Opportunities for associated sales work;
  • Relationships or people for linked records;
  • Documents for files available to your account.

Organizations can also show parent and child relationships. Optional modules may add their own tabs.

Keep the history trustworthy

  • Edit the existing record when details change.
  • Mark a contact inactive when the history must remain but the person should no longer appear in active work.
  • Use merge only after comparing both records and deciding which values and relationships should survive.
  • Treat permanent deletion as exceptional; it can remove context other users rely on.

Bulk actions on supported lists can update fields, assign groups or tags, and remove records. Review the selection count before confirming.
